Farm Girl Friday: Week Eight!

Yes, Friday has come round again and that means it is time for the next Farm Girl Vintage blocks.  This week is week eight and the blocks are 'Farm Fresh Flower' and Farmhouse. The 'Farm Fresh Flower' block went together very easily and I like how it looks.

The 'Farmhouse' block required more piecing but went together quite smoothly.  You do have to pay attention if you are using a directional fabric for the roof and/or the main house fabric to make sure everything is facing right direction where the triangles are added above the upstairs windows. Just double check before you cut off any excess fabric (ask me how I know!!)

Do go and have a look at Lori's blog to see what she has done with these blocks this week and, don't forget the Farm Girl Vintage schedule of blogs to visit over at the Fat Quarter Shop's Jolly Jabber.  Today's bloggers are Spun Sugar Quilts and Grey Dogwood Studio.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

  1. Hello Christine, you must have portrayed quite a slice of rural life here already. How long does this QAL last? It looks fun.

  2. Oh nice colors! What is the middle fabric on your flower block? Your points are perfect. :)

I'm still plugging away at mine and my roof blocks will probably be facing different directions - oh well. ;)

    Have a great weekend Christine!

    1. Thank you Linda! Good luck with the roof.... are you doing 6.5 inch or 12.5 inch? I imagine the 6.5 will be fiddly! The fabric in the middle is from the line 'Garden Party' by 'Studio E Fabrics'.... the whole line is really sweet. Enjoy your weekend too! :) x

    1. Hello Mary Anne! Thank you! I have a red door here at home, so perhaps that is what inspired it! It will be a very big quilt if I use all the blocks as there are 45 blocks in total and I am making the 12.5 inch size. I may well use my favourites for a bigger quilt and then make some of the others into table runners... cushions... etc. There are lots of ideas for other projects in Lori's book. Have a lovely weekend! :) x

    1. Thank you Lyn! I am enjoying making the blocks and I am happy with the results. I may use some of the blocks for different projects in the book as, 45 12.5 inch blocks is going to make an extremely large quilt! Have a lovely weekend! :) x
