March Snow Happy Heart Block

Yesterday was 5th March and therefore the release date for the next Snow Happy Heart Pattern designed by Anne Sutton of Bunny Hill Designs.  I have been looking forward to the next pattern as I am so enjoying creating quilt blocks around these cute little heart designs.

I printed off the pattern from Anne's website and then set about making my March block based around that design.

I followed the pattern exactly to make the applique to decorate the heart.

Then, as I have done in the previous blocks, I appliqued the decorated heart to some cream background fabric.

This month, the pattern has a snowman and a cute little lamb in it, which is just perfect for Spring.

I wanted to reflect this in the block I made so, as well as adding some borders to the heart background, I also added a sprinkle of Spring flowers in the border.

I also embroidered a few flowers on the background of the appliqued section of the block as well as the name of the month which, I had also done on the previous blocks.

I am really pleased with my March block and, I couldn't resist adding it to the two previous blocks. Here are the first three blocks which, will make up the first row of my quilt.
