Gail Pan Patterns: April Show and Tell...

Hello, today is the next link up for the Gail Pan Patterns Sew-a-long hosted by Martina at Sunshine Quilting.

My project for April is taken from an older book of Gail's called 'Baskets in Bloom'.  It was published in 2009.  My project from the book is a sweet little needle case pattern called 'One Red Flower'.  

As Gail now has a fabric collection out called 'Baskets in Bloom' I just couldn't resist including some of the fabrics in the construction of my needle case.



The embroidery was a very simple design and stitched up nice and quickly and the construction of the needle case was very straight forward.


I added a piece of felt inside for pins and needles as well as the pockets.


I love the finished result and, I am especially pleased as it really coordinates well with the pincushion I made in our Gail Pan Sew-a-long from last year.

    You make such beautiful things with your stitching Christine. I love it inside and out. I am wondering what you use as the base for your stitchery ( What is the cream fabric?) Also wondering if you use some sort of stabilizer under the fabric? janita

      Thank you Janita! The cream fabric is just ordinary quilt fabric but, after I transfer the embroidery pattern across I do stabilise it with fine fusible interfacing before I stitch. :) x

    Lovely needle case Christine. I love the use of the rick rack braid, it is really pretty. Nice fabrics too.

    One Red Flower - it is gorgeous! Goes so well with the pin cushion. Looks so nice inside with the ric rac too.

    Hi Christine, what a lovely finish. The ricrac with the frenchnot is so pretty and I just love the fabrics you used!

    Das ist so wunderhübsche. Und die neuen Stoffe gefallen mir richtig gut. Schade, dass die in Deutschland nicht so gut zu kaufen sind!
