Kick-starting my creativity...

After what has been a very long break both from my blog and from sewing in general, I finally have something creative to share with you.

In an attempt to rekindle my interest in sewing and in being creative in general after ill health, I thought I would start this year with some very simple sewn card projects.  There was also a practical reason for making the cards as my back up supply of greetings cards had run very low due to the shops not being open to buy them.

I started by experimenting with a small, quilted and free motion embroidered design of a sail boat. The image was inspired by various sail boat photographs seen on the internet.

Then I progressed to some simple floral images (also inspired by photographs seen on the internet.)  This time I didn't try to quilt the image but simply stitched it directly onto a piece of fabric-covered card.

Then I completed a whole flurry of cards all using the same technique of fusing fabric directly to the card and then adding details using machine stitching.

Some of the cards also had added extra details using little stickers, etc which I have had for some time.

I am pleased with the outcome of the cards and will enjoying using them to keep in touch with friends and family over the coming weeks.

Thank you for visiting and see you next time! 😊

  1. Welcome back! I'm so sorry you haven't been feeling well and really hope you're feeling much better. I've missed you!
Your cards are all so pretty and such a great way to use up scraps. I've been making some cards as needed too because with the current lockdown the stores haven't been open to buy any.
