Some of my favourite projects from 2014 |
I haven't had a great deal of time for stitching while I have been away, so it is nice to be back in my sewing room!! Although, in reality, I have spent most of the day today getting things unpacked and put away and some food shopping done so that we have something to eat!
A few more finishes from 2014 |
I love the New Year, it is like turning a fresh page and making a new start. It also gives you the chance to reflect on the year that has just ended and, from a creative point of view I am very pleased with how 2014 unfolded. Above are a couple of photographs which show some of my favourite projects from 2014.
Moving on to 2015, I am really excited to get started on some new projects and, I have some great ideas for what I want to make this year! I have joined the CQJP 2015 and have already made and started embellishing my January block.
I have also very happily agreed to participate in a new Gail Pan Sew-a-long, hosted by Martina of Sunshine Quilting. I have chosen my first project which is the pattern 'Friends' and the design has been transferred to my background fabric and is ready for me to get started on it.
Another Gail Pan pattern that I am hoping to complete during the Sew-a-long is a pattern called 'Simply Blue' which appeared in issue 118 of Homespun magazine and which I have been meaning to sew for some little while!! I have printed off the instructions and they are just waiting for me to choose and cut fabrics and that project will be ready to go too!!
Next, I have registered for The Quilt Show Block of the Month Quilt 2015, which has been designed by Lynette Anderson and is called 'My Country House'. I have downloaded all the details and again, I just need to get some fabrics chosen and cut to be ready to get started.
Then, just the other day, I came across a free monthly project being offered by Anne Sutton of Bunny Hill Designs called 'Snow Happy Hearts'. Each month Anne is generously giving away a cute heart decoration pattern and I have January's pattern printed and ready for my attention!!
Last but not least, I have decided that 2015 is going to be a year when I look back through all the wonderful quilt books/magazines that I have to find some exciting projects that I may not have made when I first acquired the book/magazine and make them this time round. To this end, I have found a lovely table runner pattern by Leanne Milsom of Lizzie the Quilter called 'A Summer's Day'. It appeared in issue 138 of Homespun magazine and I have been meaning to make it for some time.
I think that should keep me busy! Looking forward to a very productive 2015!! I'll let you know how I get on!
Welcome home Christine, its lovely to go away but always nice to be home again and into regular routine. I love all the projects you made last year, especially your tilde quilt that was designed by Bronwyn Hayes, its so pretty. I am thrilled you are going to make my table runner that was featured in Homespun, its a great project to work on, I loved making it. Right now I am working on a new project for Homespun magazine to be published later in the year. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteThanks Leanne! I am looking forward to working on your table runner... I haven't made anything with hexagons before but I love the look of them. Can't wait to get started and I'll look out for your next project too as I subscribe to Homespun digitally. You have a good day too! :) xx
