BCQC Finished Block

Today I would like to share with you my finished block from the Basic Crazy Quilt Class I have been taking online.  This wonderful class is run by Kathy Shaw and is full of wonderful instruction and guidance on various crazy quilt techniques.  I would highly recommend it!!  I have had so much fun making my block and have learned so much along the way.

The basic pieced block is shown in the photograph above and, I have shared with you what the block looked like along the way here and here. 

This is how the finished block looks.  I am very pleased with it!  I had so much fun learning how to stitch all the basic embroidery stitches as well as all the lovely silk ribbon embroidery flowers.  These included irises....



roses....
and in adding the finishing touches,  I even had some fun embroidering little butterflies.....



and, my favourite, a cute little hedgehog....


I can't wait to put the techniques that I have learned into practice in other projects.  Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

    You have a beautiful result. I was looking into the beginners class last week, but haven't decided yet.

      Thank you Marly! You should give it a try, it is an excellent class. I learned a huge amount. I had never attempted silk ribbon embroidery before and I really enjoyed learning the techniques involved. :) xx

    Gorgeous work! I love each and every one and had to go back and look at them again. Is the hedgehog made up of bullion stitches? I'm working on an embroidery project right now and could not master that one!

      Hello Cathy! Thank you for your lovely comments!! The hedgehog is made up of bullion stitches... they take some practice but I find the thing to do is not to hurry them. Have a lovely week! :) xx

    It looks great!! I can't wait to take the class too - even though I've been crazy quilting for years I know there is a lot more to learn. I am self-taught and I'm sure I have some bad habits!

    Oh my goodness, your block is just stunning! (I almost used peach ribbon for my irises. Seeing yours, I wish I had. They are gorgeous!)

    Your butterflies are fantastic! And the hedgehog is just too darn cute!
