Monday! Time for another Stitchery Link Up!

Here in the UK it is May Day Bank Holiday and it has been a lovely, sunny day where I live. I am hoping you are all enjoying some sunshine too.

As it is Monday, it is time for another great stitchery link up over at Super Mom - No Cape!  I have already popped over to see what some of the other stitchers have shared and there really are some lovely project to see, so I highly recommend a visit!

For my project this week I am sharing a small project that I have been working on as a gift for a friend.  It is a 'new home' gift. I started by finding a cute little design in one of my favourite books 'Patchwork Loves Embroidery' by Gail Pan.  Gail draws such sweet little cottages, I just knew I would find something suitable and, sure enough, I did!

This little design features in the book as a design for a pincushion but, it was just the perfect size for what I wanted to make.

I had transferred the design across to my background fabric, when a book that I had on pre-order from Amazon arrived at my house.

This sweet book is written by Amy Sinibaldi of Nana Company and has some really pretty little patterns inside.  As I was looking through, I found a little design which had the words 'Home Sweet Home' embroidered on it and, I thought that the words would look just perfect embroidered over the top of my already drawn cottage, so I added them.

I set about embroidering the words and the cottage adding a few little buttons along the way.  It had always been my intention to finish the embroidery by pulling it tight over the hoop and making it into a piece of hoop art.  However, I decided that the outer hoop needed a little extra decoration, so I bound it using some self-adhesive fabric tape in a green stripe.

I really like how the green fabric frames the embroidery.  I added a pretty little ribbon, tied a bow and it was ready to hang.

Tomorrow it will be in the post to my friend to wish her much happiness in her new home!
