TAST Week Twelve and catching up!

I was away for the weekend last weekend, so I have been playing catch up the last few days and have not had a lot of time for stitching or for blogging. My sister and I took our parents away for the weekend for an early celebration of my Mum's 80th birthday.

We went to Warwickshire to visit some friends and then onto Leicester to visit the tomb of Richard III (the King who was recently found in a car park and re-interred at Leicester Cathedral).

It was an extremely interesting visit and my Mum, who is very interested in the history was delighted to have been able to go and visit Leicester and the tomb.

Since I have been home all I have had time to stitch is this week's TAST stitch which is the barred chain and the alternating barred chain.  This is a new stitch for me and I was excited to try it.

I have added a small line of each to my sampler and I like how they look.  It was not a difficult stitch to work once you got the hang of it!

  1. great trip for a wonderful purpose. Happy Birthday Christine's Mom! I find English and European history so interesting. I have been following TAST, but not working each stitch each week. But I AM trying to incorporate new stitches into each CQ block.

  4. Coming home is always the hardest part of going away. I always feel behind for days sometimes weeks if I am gone for long. Birthday Hugs for your mom : ) After not much in the way of sewing the last couple of weeks here I am determined to finish something before the end of the month! (which is Today.....how do the months go so fast ????) My project for the week is a very old cross stitch project which I am turning into a pillow. I still have a bit to do on it but reviving it from the undone pile has made me want to do some more stitching with floss once again. I haven't done cross stitching in at least 15 years. My oh My! Good thing stitching is still in style : ) Happy fall day to you. Janita

  5. Nice stitching Christine. It looks like fun to make but I'd need lots of practice. ;) I like how it turns out and that you can make it 2 ways.
How fun to take your Mom for a happy day of her fave thing! Richard III does have quite the interesting (but short) history. Hopefully he is resting well in his new home. ;)
